The article examines current trends and prospects for the development of the tourism industry in Russia at the present stage. The key factors influencing the development of the industry are analyzed, including changes in the foreign policy and economic situation, the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic, the introduction of sanctions, the modernization of tourism infrastructure and government support measures. Particular attention is paid to the problems of imbalance between inbound and outbound tourism, insufficient service, transport accessibility and high costs of domestic tourism. A number of measures aimed at stimulating the development of the tourism industry in Russia are proposed.
