The article is devoted to the study of the efficiency of one of the main agricultural regions of our country - the Southern Federal District, which is one of the three leaders in agricultural production in the Russian Federation. The dynamics of agricultural production indicators are studied both in the district as a whole and at the level of the subjects included in it. An analysis of the dynamics of the values of indicators of the efficiency of production of agricultural products as a whole in the region and at the level of the subjects included in it is carried out. The assessment of the efficiency of agricultural enterprises in the plant growing sector is given, including gross production, dynamics of the level of production indices, values of the dynamics of indicators of the balanced result, activities of agricultural enterprises, as well as the level of profitability. Based on the results of the study, the corresponding conclusions are made.
