The article is devoted to the topic of public transport of the city. A modern city cannot be imagined without modern functioning of public transport. Transport accessibility plays an important role in social security of the population. Due to the rapid growth of the city, the need for the development of public transport in new areas is increasing. This development is progressing, but there are a number of other problems in terms of accessibility, provision of rolling stock, waiting time. The problem of obsolescence of rolling stock is especially acute. The purpose of the study is to identify the problems of public transport in the city of Barnaul and consider programs for its development. To identify the problems of public transport, a sociological study was conducted among young people, the results of which are reflected in the article. From the wishes for the development of public transport, respondents proposed the following solutions: launching new branches of electric transport, repairing buses and electric transport, reducing the interval of movement, installing stop warning systems, updating the fleet, not increasing the cost of travel, launching a new type of public transport (metro, electric bus, etc.), increasing the number of public transport at night, expanding the fleet and cleaning the interior. These actions are among the most important for the development of this direction in the city of Barnaul.
