The article presents an analysis of the factors of socio-economic development and their impact on the solution of complex improvement of residential courtyards. The article shows that in the conditions of urban development, their urbanization in the basis of complex improvement of courtyards as a natural continuation of living space. In the article the analysis of architectural, sanitary-hygienic, ecological, regulatory, and other requirements to the landscaping of the courtyards. The article also proposes a system of classification of territories according to certain. Attention is drawn to the shortage of necessary areas that prevent the saturation of yards with elements of improvement. The issue of improvement of residential yards in radically reconstructed or newly developed territories was touched upon.
