The scientific article is devoted to the study of the formation of a green economy model in Russia in the context of global economic and political turbulence. The formation of the green economy paradigm in Russia is currently facing multiple contradictions of geopolitical and economic nature, so it is not possible to determine an unambiguous course of action. Taking into account the national peculiarities of the green economy paradigm (the exclusive role of government participation in the formation of a green economy; the lack of proposals for the development of some universal principles of responsible market behavior, compiled by the business community itself; the fears of the political leadership in terms of the embargo on the supply of energy assets to the European market), the author has identified the following scenarios for the development of the green economy: freezing of work on the formation of a green economy; environmental compromise.
