Questions of assessment and ensuring economic security are relevant, especially in the conditions of imposition of economic sanctions now. For timely neutralization of threats of economic security it is necessary to carry out her operational assessment in a section of various spheres and branches of economy. In article questions of a perspective of methodology of assessment of economic security of the region are considered. The comparative analysis of various techniques of assessment offered by domestic scientists is carried out, their common features and differences are revealed. The conclusion is drawn on need of a statement of a uniform technique of assessment of the economic security of the region allowing to carry out in due time diagnostics of a state and threats of development of the region, to compare various regions of the country on the level of economic security.
