In the context of globalization and the accession of Kazakhstan to the WTO, urgent becomes the problem of establishing an effective food safety system. Now, because of significant growth in agricultural commodity prices and product of its processing there was a decrease in economic access to food. In the article the author considers the concept of «food security». Also promoted analysis of statistical data an imports and export of food in Kazakhstan. The author examined the experience of food security in the EU, Germany and Canada. On the basis of foreign experience of ensuring food security, conclusions and the opportunity of its application in Kazakhstan.
