Abstract.<\/em> <\/strong>The study of the daily dynamics of mercury makes it possible to model and predict the temporal features of the behavior of the metal and its compounds. Knowledge of the features of the behavior of metal in natural waters on the example of specific water bodies will allow us to develop recommendations for optimizing the network of water intakes in order to meet the household needs of the population, and minimize the possible negative impact on human health. The article discusses the results of modern research aimed at identifying changes in mercury concentrations in water, the driving layer of the atmosphere, determining the direction of its flows at different times of the day and for various natural objects. The aim of the work was to study the daily dynamics of mercury concentrations in natural waters, to identify factors affecting this process. To achieve this goal, an experiment was conducted in the delta of the Northern Dvina River, when water samples from the surface and bottom horizons were taken and analyzed during the day. In parallel, the physicochemical conditions of the environment were studied to analyze the relationships. This allowed the data available in scientific use to be compared with the author’s results obtained for the mouth of the river as a result of a full-scale experiment. It was revealed that in the delta of the Northern Dvina River, the daily dynamics of mercury concentrations depends on various factors, and these factors differ for the surface and bottom horizons. Significant correlation coefficients were found for the daily course only with such water parameters from the studied ones as oxygen content and the gross form of mercury in the surface water horizon (r=0.54), and pH and the total dissolved form of mercury in the surface horizon (r=0.61). In other cases, the correlation coefficients between mercury concentrations and the studied parameters were below the significance level.<\/p>\n
