Abstract.<\/strong> The article discusses the basic principles of the strategy for the development of machine-building production. The characteristics of innovation activity in mechanical engineering at the micro and macro levels are determined. The assessment of innovative activity of organizations of the machine-building industry of the Russian Federation in 2018-2021 is carried out. The tendency of passivity of the majority of enterprises of the machine-building industry in terms of scientific and technical developments is revealed. This trend has a negative impact on the indicator of the level of activity of organizations and the structure of goods in the industry.<\/p>\n
