На основе результатов фундаментальных работ Н.И. Вавилова, Ч. Дарвина, Э. Дарвина определены основные факторы, определяющие взаимодействие растительных сообществ в борьбе за существование. Впервые отмечена роль Эразма Дарвина, который в значительной степени определил идеи эволюционного учения о происхождении видов своего внука - Чарльза Дарвина.
