The article characterizes several checkpoints across the State border of the Russian Federation, located in different regions of Russia: their capacity, the degree of arrangement, the size of the territory, the presence of restrictions in turnover for the territories. In order to study the organization of the territory of the checkpoints more closely their comparison with the arrangement of checkpoints and territories is carried out on the example of foreign countries bordering the Russian Federation - the Republic of Finland and the Republic of Azerbaijan. As a result of comparison of domestic and foreign legislation is given an assessment of legal regulation of this area and proposals to improve the organization of the territory.
