The article analyzes the rank of compound feeds for animals and, in particular, for commercial aquaculture facilities in Russia. The trend towards the development of this industry in the country has been established. The share of feed costs in the structure of the production cost of commercial fish is determined. It is established that in order to increase the efficiency of fish farming enterprises engaged in commercial aquaculture, it is necessary to reduce the cost of fish feed. In the course of the research, the most optimal composition of feed for salmon fish species was determined and its price characteristics were established. The organization of its own feed mill for the needs of a fish-breeding enterprise will save 30-50% on this cost item.
