Currently, in Russia the focus of tourist flows covers an increasing number of regions. The positive impact of the tourism sector on the economic development of the region and rural areas is known, but despite the obvious advantages, not all regions of the Russian Federation are able to fully use their natural tourism resources to attract the flow of tourists and economic development of rural areas. The formation of tourism business in rural areas is determined by the availability of tourism and recreational resources, which serve as the initial basis for the formation of the tourism product. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the recreational potential of rural regions for the production of tourism products that can satisfy the most diverse tourist and recreational needs of modern people. Today, tourism and recreational activities are among the most dynamically developing activities that affect the socio-economic situation of a particular territory. Effective organization of the tourism and recreational sector is becoming one of the main factors in the development of the territory’s economy, increasing the standard of living of the population through the creation of new jobs, growth in budget revenues, development of related industries, etc.
