The article presents an analysis of the use of forest land in the Sotrinsky forestry, which is due to the fact that the current state of forest areas is faced with a number of shortcomings in the field of protection. They consist in the fact that the economic and environmental aspects are not balanced. Economic aspects do not take into account proper control over forestry and wood processing, features of long-term reforestation and rational use of forest lands. The work is based on a methodology for studying the organization of the use of the land fund, regulated by the legislative framework, and includes a detailed description of the main activity, parameters and process of using the forest fund lands. The paper presents and analyzes data on the distribution of forest area by predominant species of the Verkhotursky district of the Sverdlovsk region, the distribution of forestry forests by forest growth zones and forest areas, the distribution of district forestries, the distribution of forestry territory to the intended purpose of forests and categories of protective forests. As a result, maps of the distribution of forests by purpose, a map-scheme of the use of forests for timber harvesting were developed.
